2007 Merlot, Swanson Vineyards

小売店にはまず出回ってない、と思っていたMerry Edwardsを近所の酒屋で発見。
普段そんなに飲まないソーヴニョン・ブランだけど、これは確実に今までで一番。めちゃ美味い。
　

それもそのはず、これの2007年ヴィンテージはWS誌でUSソーヴィニョン・ブラン初の96点を付けたんだとか。
これが$30そこそこで飲めてしまうアメリカ万歳だなー。

退職する会社の後輩が訪ねてきたので、NYCでディナー。
食べ物撮ったらアングルが全部一緒だったり、壁を撮ったら頭が入ってたりで要精進。

Empire State Buildingは夜遅いのに激混み。
長い夏休みが始まった。

NYCで買い付けたという和州牛、いと美味し。

送別会シーズン。
今年は二家族が帰国の途に就きます。

以前も飲んだJarvis、今回はCabernet Franc 2005。
小売店では扱われていない、Napaからのハンドキャリー品。

やっぱり美味い。

2005 Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc as a varietal often goes unrecognized on its own due to its popular use in blended wines. But Dimitri Tchelistcheff, our Winemaker Consultant, considers our Cabernet Franc to be one of the best wines he produces; which makes it no surprise that this varietal is one of our most sought after. The Jarvis 2005 Cabernet Franc has a deep lavender brilliance in the glass which adds to the delight of the drinking experience. Eighteen months of barrel aging in new French Haute Futaie oak adds a hint of toasty vanilla to the lavender and cassis aromas of this wine. A delightful combination of spicy blueberry and black cherry flavors linger elegantly throughout the finish. This charming wine can be enjoyed immediately upon release because of its concentration of fruit and incredible structure. This wine has been cave aged and was released when our winemaker felt it was ready for full enjoyment. Best to consume within ten years.

金曜日の夜は同僚宅で鍋を囲み、取って置きのワインを堪能。

1本目はピノ・ノワールの女王、Merry EdwardsのRussian River Volley 2008年。
さすがにちょっと若かったけど噂に違わぬ美味さ。

家にもう1本あるMeredith Estate 2007が俄然楽しみになってきた。

続いてナパ・メルローの立役者DuckhornのMerlot 2007。
Merlot 100%は面白味に欠ける印象があったけど、これはイイ。

駄目押しはJ VineyardsのPinot Noir、Russian River Valley（多分2008年）。
Jはスパークリングしか飲んだことなかったので、ちょっと新鮮。
開けてすぐに飲みやすいピノ。

子供用のピンク・レモネード。

帰り道は凍えるような寒さ。酔いも覚めました。

遅摘みしたブドウを日陰干しして糖度を高めてから作られるAmarone。
手間がかかっているだけあって値も張り、この辺りの相場だとだいたい$40～60ほど。

このCorte MajoliのAmaroneは、$20そこそこで買えてしまう破格な1本。
鼻腔を擽る特徴的なレーズンのヒントはアグレッシブ過ぎず、気軽にトライしてみるのに良いかも。

先日観た映画「サイドウェイズ」に登場したので買ってみたFrog’s Leap。
この日は飲まなかったけど。

一本目に開けたのはArgentinaのRutini。
これぞマルベックっていう味ながら、単調でない。実に美味い。

同僚がワイン通のボスから貰ったというNapaのPejuが二本目。
カベルネだけど、カベルネっぽくない。

Pejuは何度か口にしたことがあるけど、外さない。これも美味い。

この後しばらくしてから蕎麦を頂き、トランプなどして年越し。

カウントダウンして花火を打ち上げてKissも悪くないが、
紅白かガキの使いがないとやはりちょっと物足りない、と思う今日この頃。

休暇中のボスから思い立ったように連絡があり、会社のメンツで忘年会。
道すがらタイ・レストランで料理をピックアップし、ボス宅に集結。

久しぶりに口にしたAmarone。
高価なので宅飲み用の購入は躊躇してしまうが、やはり美味しい。

後で知ったが、Amaroneよりも高価だった。

TrumpeterはRutiniファミリー、先日の旅でPatricio君がオススメしてくれたワイン。
クセのないすっきりドライな泡。

我が家には珍しく、一晩でフルボトルが空いた。
